Position Summary:

Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh seeks a dynamic and experienced Development Manager dedicated to advancing our vision of safe homes and communities for everyone. Reporting directly to the Director of Programs, the Development Manager will be instrumental in driving our fundraising efforts with a strong focus on community-centric practices. This role involves managing grant research, writing, and reporting, overseeing individual giving, and coordinating impactful fundraising events.

The ideal candidate is passionate about nonprofit development, excels at building authentic relationships with diverse stakeholders, and brings a strategic mindset to their work. With a blend of creativity and analytical skills, the Development Manager will secure funding, engage supporters, and ensure that our fundraising initiatives are inclusive and reflective of the community’s needs. Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Grant Research, Writing, and Reporting:
    • Identify and research prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources that align with RTP’s mission and community-focused goals.
    • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications to secure funding for RTP’s programs and initiatives.
    • Manage the grant reporting process, including tracking deadlines, gathering necessary data, and submitting timely and accurate reports to funders.
    • Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar to ensure the timely submission of proposals and reports.
 
  • Individual Giving:
    • Develop and implement strategies to grow RTP’s individual donor base, with an emphasis on community-centric fundraising approaches.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized communications that honor and respect the community's voice.
    • Coordinate and execute fundraising appeals, including direct mail campaigns and online giving initiatives, ensuring they reflect the community’s needs and values with dignity.
 
  • Fundraising Events:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events.
    • Create event materials, such as sponsorship packets, and identify appropriate sponsors for each event.
    • Act as the main point of contact for sponsors, ensuring they are engaged and supported throughout the event planning and execution process.
    • Work with vendors, volunteers, and staff to ensure successful event logistics and execution.
    • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring that events are cost-effective and meet fundraising goals.
 
  • Community-Centric Fundraising:
    • Foster an environment of transparency and mutual respect between RTP and the communities we serve, ensuring fundraising efforts are community-driven, reflect the true needs of our neighbors, and align with our values.
    • Integrate principles of equity and inclusion into all fundraising strategies and activities.
 
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in Salesforce.
    • Track and manage grant opportunities using Instrumentl, ensuring that all potential funding sources are identified, pursued, and monitored effectively.
    • Generate reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement, and grant outcomes to support organizational decision-making.
 
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work closely with the Director of Programs to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather stories, data, and other content for grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.
    • Participate in team meetings, strategy sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:
 
  • 4+ years of experience in nonprofit development, with a focus on grant writing, individual giving, and event planning.
  • Proven track record of securing grants and managing donor relationships.
  • Strong commitment to community-centric fundraising and the ability to integrate these principles into all development activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and fundraising platforms.
  • A passion for RTP’s mission and a commitment to advancing affordable homeownership and community revitalization.
